   ONAM CELEBRATION 2024

The joyous festival of Onam was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Lourdes Mount HSS, bringing together students, staff, and the entire school community in a vibrant and colorful event. The festivities began with an inaugural ceremony, which was graced by the esteemed presence of the school manager Rev Brother Peter Vazhepparambil, who delivered the inaugural address and officially opened the celebrations. His words set a positive and celebratory tone for the day, reflecting the spirit of unity and tradition. Following the inauguration, the PTA president, Mr. Arun Lal offered a heartfelt felicitation speech, praising the efforts of everyone involved in organizing the event and highlighting the cultural significance of Onam in fostering togetherness and joy. A variety of traditional Onam activities were organized, starting with the melodious Onappattukal (Onam songs), which resonated through the school, invoking a sense of nostalgia and cultural pride. The lively Kaikottikkali (a traditional group dance) followed, with students gracefully performing the steps in perfect sync, adding a sense of grace to the celebrations. The competitive spirit of the day was heightened by exciting events such as the Vadamvali (tug-of-war) competition, which saw teams battling it out in a show of strength and teamwork. Other fun-filled competitions, such as the Kudamadi (pot balancing) and musical chair contests, added to the enjoyment, engaging participants and spectators alike. The highlight of the day was the sumptuous Onasadya, a traditional Onam feast enjoyed by everyone. The delicious spread of dishes, served on banana leaves, brought smiles to faces and filled the hearts of all with warmth and gratitude.
